Approved Minutes of the Orientation Meeting

The meeting was an orientation session for all members. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Bishop Croneberger and opened with self-introductions. A newly created Diocesan Council Handbook was distributed and during the meeting the different sections were described and referenced.

CONVENTION RESPONSES

The Bishop asked for comments and suggestions from the lay members about the diocesan convention.

ORIENTATION

The areas covered in the Bishop's and staff comments and referenced in the Handbook were:

• Role of Council
• Guidelines for the Council Work, including Visioning Threads and Program Priorities
• Council's Financial Oversight, including Diocesan Budget Overview (including stewardship         policy), Funding Sources of ACTS/VIM, Ward J. Herbert Fund, Diocesan Outreach, Jersey City         Funds
• Senior Housing Boards
• Community Development Corporations
• Diocesan History
• Episcopal House Staff
• Districts
• Constitution and Canons and the New Jersey Statutes
• Maps and Directions
• Expectations for Individual Council Members, including regular attendance at meetings and        suppers, meeting preparation, service on a task force, understand responsibilities, report to        districts, use "I" statements, respect opinions of others
• Council Meetings, Schedules and Minutes
• Scheduling of Council Task Forces' Meetings

It was moved, seconded and adopted to temporarily adjourn the meeting of Council.

The President called the membership of the Jersey City Community Development Corporation to order.

JERSEY CITY CDC BOARD ELECTIONS

Mr. John Zinn moved the following resolution:

Motion: RESOLVED, That the following be elected to the Board of Jersey City CDC to the Class of 2003 to 2005: Ms. Vanessa Nazario and Carol Harrison-Arnold, Esq.

The motion was seconded and adopted.

It was moved, seconded and adopted to adjourn the meeting of the membership of the Jersey City Community Development Corporation.

The Diocesan Council was called back into session.

MINUTES

Motion: It was moved and seconded to accept the minutes for the meeting of January 8, 2003 with a correction that Mr. Dan deRonde was present, not absent. The motion to accept the minutes as corrected was adopted.

The bishop will appoint chairs of each of the task forces (Partner Congregations and Districts; Missions; Planning and Role of Council; Committees and Commission) and ongoing committees (Budget, and Outreach). The chair will be in direct touch with the other members who signed up for the task force to schedule a meeting before the next Council meeting.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Rev. David Hamilton and The Rev. Jack Stanton were recovering for heart surgeries.

Mr. Steve Boston, chair of the Technology Committee, announced that the diocesan web site was being moved to a new server offered by the Church Pension Fund.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m. with prayer by the Rt. Rev. Rufus T. Brome.
